What is Imports / Exports ? Why it is required ? What are the reasons for controls being exercised by different government agencies in Importing / Exporting activities ?
It is different from domestic buying as it is trade across national boundaries and involve many external agencies other than the buyer & Seller , like transporters for Inland transport, Customs Procedures, Port trust formalities, Shipping lines or Airlines, Customs House Agents (C.H.A), Customs Duty & Cess, R.B.I. guidelines, Authorised Forex Dealers, D.G.F.T etc.
Many of these agencies are there at the receiving country also and goods needs to pass through their scrutiny as per their rules and regulations. Also there may be differential tax treatment in the receiving country based on country of Origin of goods. Needless to mention, you really need trained people to carry out these functions.
